The number of deepfakes detected worldwide increased 10 times from 2022 to 2023, according to Sumsub’s 2023 Identity Fraud Report.

Deepfakes use AI algorithms to create hyper-realistic videos, audio recordings, or documents, enabling scammers and propagandists to create extremely believable content and make social engineering more effective.
